Ready sees Antonelli, Hundley on Headley path

Chase Headley

The Beavers won the final game of their series against Las Vegas, 11-2. Josh Geer looked strong in his third win of the season allowing two runs on five hits over six innings. He also notched his first hit of the year in the third with a bases-clearing double. Meanwhile, Chase Headley continued his hot hitting going 3-for-5 with a home run. I caught up with manager Randy Ready after the game.

Can you talk about the way Chase Headley has been playing lately?

Randy Ready: He's been swinging that bat well as of late, driving the ball, slugging a little bit right now. He's doing the same thing he was doing at the beginning of the year except for all of a sudden he's getting the count in his favor and his swing has smoothed out. He's letting the ball travel a lot longer than he was earlier this season.

When you see someone like him playing this well, do you think he might not be around much longer?

Randy Ready: I think the big club knows how he's playing. [It's up to them] when they want to decide to make those kind of decisions, that's the bottom line for any of these guys.

Nick Hundley had a good game with three hits and Matt Antonelli only had one but hit the ball well. Do you think this is the kind of game that can get them going?

Randy Ready: I certainly hope so. I think it's just a matter of time. They've proven that they're good players. I wouldn't anticipate them struggling all year long. They've been through some adversity already, and I think that will just help them in the long run.
