Padres claim Henn off waivers from Yankees

San Diego, CA – The San Diego Padres announced today that they have claimed left-handed pitcher Sean Henn off waivers from the New York Yankees.

Sean Henn, 27, is 1-0 with a 0.84 ERA (1 ER/10.2 IP) in eight relief appearances this season between Triple-A Tampa and Single-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Originally selected by the Yankees in the 26th round of the 2000 First-Year Player Draft, Henn has made 36 Major League appearances with New York (five starts) over parts of three seasons (2005-07), posting a 2-6 record with a 7.53 ERA (48 ER/57.1 IP). In 116 career minor league games (81 starts), he is 26-23 with a 3.53 ERA (190 ER/484.0 IP).

Henn is scheduled to join the Padres tomorrow in San Diego at which time the club will make a corresponding move.
