The San Diego Padres announced a number of roster moves today, which includes optioning two players to Triple-A Portland, purchasing the contract of two players from Portland and placing five players on the disabled list. | |||
|
San Diego purchased the contracts of left-handed pitcher Glendon Rusch and outfielder Jody Gerut from Portland. The Padres also optioned right-handed pitcher Kevin Cameron and infielder Luis Rodriguez to Triple-A. Three pitchers were placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 21st – right-handers Carlos Guevara (strained right groin) and Clay Hensley (right shoulder strain) and left-hander Justin Hampson (left shoulder tendinitis). Additionally, right-handers Mark Prior (right shoulder strain) and Tim Stauffer (right shoulder strain) were placed on the 60-day disabled list. With today’s moves, the Padres have 26 active players in Major League camp, while the 40-man roster now stands at 40. The club departs Arizona after tomorrow’s final Cactus League game against the Seattle Mariners (noon PT). |
