The San Diego Padres announced on Friday that the club has agreed to terms with shortstop Drew Cumberland, the team’s second pick in the compensation round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.

Drew Cumberland, the 46th overall pick in the draft out of Pace (FL) High School, was named a 2007 Louisville Slugger High School All-American after batting .518 with nine doubles, three home runs, 24 RBI, 35 runs scored and 17 stolen bases.

The 5-10, 175-pound shortstop was also an all-state selection as a defensive back and running back in football. His brother Shaun is an outfielder in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization.

The Padres have now signed or agreed to terms with 33 players selected in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.
