Menchaca to Fort Wayne; Lara to Mexico

Peoria, AZ-- The San Diego Padres loaned left-hander Orlando Lara to Mexico and brought up right-hander Pablo Menchaca to take his place in the rotation.

Orlando Lara went 1-3 with a 5.67 ERA over seven starts with the Low-A Fort Wayne Wizards. The lefty allowed four runs or more in four of his starts. He surrendered 43 hits and six walks in 33.1 innings while striking out 32.

Lara's best outing came on May 9 when he allowed three hits over 6.1 scoreless innings.

Pablo Menchaca joins Fort Wayne from extended spring training. He went 3-1 with a 3.35 ERA over 13 appearances, including seven starts for the AZL Padres and earned the win in the AZL Championship game. In 51 innings he allowed 52 hits and walked nine while striking out 39.

Menchaca received a late season call up to the Eugene Emeralds and allowed one run over three innings in his lone appearance. Recommended Stories
