"He rectified what he did in the first inning to cause the run," pitching coach Gary Lance said. "He is not the type of pitcher who can pitch past a hitter. He righted the ship and kept us close."
A stalwart Henry Bonilla seemingly matched Ketchner's efforts. Bonilla pitched six innings for the Bees while only surrendering three hits and three walks and merely one run.
The game remained deadlocked until the seventh inning when an unearned run proved to be the deciding factor. Luke Carlin led of the inning with an infield hit and two consecutive Salt Lake miscues allowed Carlin to reach third base. Josh Howard then grounded into a 5-6-3 double play that scored Carlin and proved to be the deciding run in the 2-1 victory
Winning pitcher Scott Strickland pitched two solid innings of shutout ball, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out three while picking up his PCL-leading fourth win. Fireballer Andrew Brown lead off the eighth inning by beaning the first batter he faced, but settled down quickly to work a hitless, scoreless inning.
Beavers closer Leo Rosales worked his way out of a ninth inning jam to acquire his seventh save in as many opportunities.
