Ok, so what is it? Three days until spring training is underway?
It seems like just yesterday I was getting the third umpire tossed replacement ball for the third Tennessee homerun in September.
I can actually feel the heat already. In fact, just a few days ago I was layin' on the couch and I just had the feeling that overcame my entire body – like you know that feeling when your just sittin' on your porch and you're wondering how many more days without rain or precipitation that its going to take before your family has you institutionalized for swimming in the grass or gravel or even your local sewer lagoon in connection with thoughts and mirages.
Haha...um, yeah, well, that's that feeling I got...it was awesome.....I think.
I guess you could say I'm just ready to get out to, to, hold on I'm trying to swallow what appears to be a gigantic knot in my throat, Aiirr...iiii...zzzonnna.
Seriously, I'm very excited for spring training. It really does just feel like that time again to be throwing with the boys and some BP, even some PFP's (pitcher fielding practice), some yoga, and then eleven thirty hits and that always difficult decision of whose apartment to scream and yell and trash talk over a lovely gathering involving junk food, soft drinks, and a lovely choice of tobacco products. Now when a say a lovely choice, I mean for those who didn't bring their cans cause they forgot them or just didn't get any, those lovely choices are for those who didn't bring and get to bum off the rest of us.
Yeah, I know, you might be a little upset about the fact that our time of discipline and hard work end before you take your lunch break, but make no mistake about it – the hard work doesn't conclude once that final pitch of the day is thrown.
No, no, we are still very active in strategies, teamwork, aggression toward the opponents, and most of all that burning desire to defeat your counterpart.
I do tend to exaggerate, but I'm telling you our group meetings or "gaming events" get extremely heated. Guys get pissed at each other for days at times. Not gonna lie, I have done the same and yes it is very femalish to have these little temper tantrums, but damn it, when my gun wont load fast enough and the entire time he could have gotten me, he waited until the last second right before I could pull the trigger and sniped me from behind the mountain, I get sad and then upset, skip unhappy then just feel like the next live BP will be an interesting battle.
Anyway, I hope that you all have your spring training tickets or plan on purchasing them very soon because I'm telling you its going to be an exciting few months.
I would also like to make an announcement to everyone as well, I have put on three and a half pounds and I am now a machine. I encourage you all to come see the improvements I have made to this already brilliantly put together masculine physique.
I'm telling you first hand, I have loved baseball all my life and always will. Being out on that mound and being able to do what I love day in and day out is a dream that I get to have and live at the same time. But more importantly, when I'm out on that mound, or in the pen or just at the park, seeing the fans in the stand, the kids in, well, everywhere, and the hot dogs being passed around...I tell you there is nothing that makes going to the ballpark each day more meaningful and exciting then going knowing there are going to be screaming fans, booing fans, neutral fans that ya know, the ones that didn't really have plans that night but their boss gave them good seats and idol was showing re-runs that night.
Either way, its all the more fun when the fans are having just as much fun as we are. Now, for me, my entire family from Topeka, Kansas to Pueblo, Colorado, my girl and her whole family, including the very wonderful parents she has, and her cousins, especially Scott, who I would like you all to know that he sent me an email with four pictures of Richard Simmons, and asked me if he should choose a different path in life, HA SCOTT! And the rest of her fam, and all my friends sitting in the stands at PETCO Park, WILL be the moments that I will cherish forever.
This spring training, for me, is a start for the same goals that I have had my entire life, and some new ones with a new and improved desire for dominance on that mound.
I look forward to seeing all my boys down in AZ and getting back in the flow of my dreams. I hope to see you all there, and in fact the next story you read from me will be from spring training 2007. Now I would love to get on the computer and have tons of things to say about how many great fans or just fans I ran into or merely saw at the games and at the park. It's all up to you fans out there...don't be scerrrrred...until next week...
