On August 15 at West Tenn, he suffered a hard-luck loss to the Diamond Jaxx, surrendering two unearned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five.
He earned his first win of the season at Mississippi on August 20, tossing an eight-hit shutout. Ekstrom fanned five Braves and did not walk a batter in his gem. The shutout was his third complete game of the season, which puts him in third place in the Southern League.
The 22-year-old Portland, OR native was the San Diego Padres? twelfth round selection in the 2004 draft.
