Jared Wells talks about his start:
The Beavers answered quickly in the bottom of the fourth when Portland hitting finally got to Tucson's Juan Cruz. With two runners on, Jason Hill singled in Jon Knott to even the score. Cruz, on a rehab stint from the Arizona Diamondbacks after injuring his right shoulder, threw 3 1/3 innings while striking out four behind some impressive velocity.
Portland pitching coach Gary Lance talks about mistakes and the Tucson staff:
Beaver bats added a second run in the bottom of the sixth when Jack Cust sent a Mike Bacsik pitch out of PGE park for his 14th blast of the year. Cust continued his on-base madness by reaching safely in four of his five at-bats and continuing his home streak of reaching safely in 33 consecutive contests at PGE Park.
Jack Cust talks about his on base prowess:
The Beavers took a two-run lead in the eighth when Jon Knott scored on a Justin Leone RBI single.
Portland's good fortune would end there. Tucson rallied to score two runs in the ninth off Jason Anderson to tie the game. It was Anderson's fourth blown save of the season. Beav's pitcher Erick Burke was rattled for three hits and two more Sidewinder runs in extra frames while Knott, Cust, and Leone were set down in order to end the game.
Portland's skid continues as the Beavers have lost seven of their last ten, while Tucson in their last ten has gone 7-3.
