Portland's recent acquisition from Pawtucket, Cla Meredith was brought on to stop the bleeding, but the 6-3 deficit was too much for a slumping Beavers offense. Anderson (2-3) was charged with all three 10th inning runs and was unable to record an out.
The first two Beaver runs came from the bottom of the batting order. Jason Hill singled, Bobby Hill walked, and both came around to score on a throwing error to third by Sky Sox pitcher Miguel Asencio, after fielding a comebacker by Portland starter Dewon Brazelton. The error led to a no-decision for Asencio, who pitched seven innings allowing only one earned run. Reliever Jaime Cerda (1-3) threw two scoreless innings, allowing no hits and one base on balls for the win. Closer Nate Field collected his 8th save of the year, third best in the PCL.
In a rather unmemorable outing. Portland was held to just four hits and mustered just one for extra bases. Struggling at home thus far, the Beavers drop to two games behind Salt Lake in the Pacific Northern division.
