Paul McAnulty optioned to Triple-A

The San Diego Padres today reinstated catcher Rob Bowen from the 15-day disabled list and optioned first baseman/outfielder Paul McAnulty to Triple-A Portland. McAnulty, 25, batted .200 (1-for-5) in seven games with the Padres in 2006.

Rob Bowen, 25, batted .143 (1-for-7) in two games during a rehabilitation assignment with Single-A Lake Elsinore. Bowen, who was placed on the disabled list on May 12 due to a left thumb sprain, is batting .435 (10-for-23) with one home run, three doubles and seven RBI in 18 games with the Padres in 2006. Over parts of three Major League seasons with the Minnesota Twins (2003-04) and Padres (2006), Bowen has a career batting average of .233 (14-for-60) with two home runs, three doubles and 10 RBI in 42 games.

Over parts of two Major League seasons with San Diego (2005-06), Paul McAnulty has a .207 (6-for-29) career batting average with five runs scored in 29 games.
