McAnulty made his debut in 2005

The San Diego Padres today placed catcher Rob Bowen on the 15-day disabled list due to a left thumb sprain and recalled outfielder/first baseman Paul McAnulty from Triple-A Portland.

Rob Bowen, 25, is batting .435 (10-for-23) with one home run, three doubles, seven RBI and nine runs scored in 18 games for the Padres in 2006. Over parts of three seasons with the Minnesota Twins (2003-04) and Padres (2006), Bowen has a career batting average of .233 (14-for-60) with two home runs, three doubles and 10 RBI in 42 games.

Paul McAnulty is batting .278 (30-for-108) with eight home runs, seven doubles, 19 RBI and 21 runs scored in 31 games with the Beavers. The 25-year-old McAnulty made his Major League debut with San Diego last season and batted .208 (5-for-24) with four runs scored in 22 games with the Padres.

Although McAnulty has hit five home runs in May, he is hitting just .194 over the last 10 games.
