Drew Macias totals nine; Fort Wayne mauled

Snowed out – ah baseball season. Drew Macias beat up on friend Travis Chick but Mobile took the loss. Ben Krosschell has had it rough in the early going – as has Eddie Pena.

Mobile lost 5-4 in ten innings to Chattanooga (Reds) Former San Diego prospect Travis Chick took the hill against his former team and word is he joked with friend Drew Macias before the game, saying he would be coming high and tight. But the joke was on Chick this night. Macias was perfect against Chick, completing back-to-back jacks after a Steve Baker bomb. Macias also doubled off Chick and ended the night 4-for-5 with nine total bases.

Jared Wells lasted five innings, giving up two runs on eight hits while striking out six. The right-hander has given up just three walks to 18 strikeouts to begin the year. He has limited the opposition to one hit in 18 at bats with runners in scoring position so far this year. Wells also went 1-for-2 at the plate, his second hit in professional ball.

Leo Rosales took the loss, allowing a run on two walks and three hits. The right-hander has given up runs in four of his last five outings as the opposition is hitting .344 off him. Rosales has posted a 6.75 ERA early in the year after notching a 3.18 ERA in 61 games with the Storm, holding opponents to a .219 average against.

Fort Wayne lost 13-2 to Burlington (Royals)

Ben Krosschell gave up four runs on six hits and two walks in four frames. He also tagged two batters in the loss, his second of the year in as many starts. Krosschell has given up 11 runs over his first 7.2 innings this year, allowing a .364 average against. Seven of the runs against have come in the third inning and he has given up seven hits in 17 at bats with runners in scoring position.

Eddie Pena pitched just one inning but faced ten batters. He gave up five runs, two earned, on four hits and two walks. The sidearmer has given up runs in three of his four appearances to begin his career in the system. The opposition is hitting .400 off him and .571 off him with runners in scoring position.
