Tagg Bozied will always be remebered for hitting a grand slam on July 19, 2004 and rupturing a tendon in his knee when he arrived at home plate to celebrate with his teammates.
The Padres believed he would have been in the big leagues had he not suffered that injury as he was tearing up the Pacific Coast League with 13 homers and 47 RBI's over his final 43 games with the Beavers that year.
A year and a half after that night, Bozied has been released by the Padres due to a numbers game. With Walter Young coming to Portland and an excess of first baseman - Paul McAnulty also plays the position - the Friars decided to go in a different direction.
A third round pick in 2003, Bozied racked up 65 homers and 262 RBI's to go along with a .282 average in 391 career minor league games.
