Padres sign Greene to one-year deal

The San Diego Padres today agreed to terms with shortstop Khalil Greene on a one-year contract.

Khalil Greene, 26, batted .250 (109-for-436) with 15 home runs, 30 doubles and 70 RBI in 121 games for the Padres in 2005. His 70 RBI set a single season club record for most RBI by a shortstop and after knocking 15 home runs, he became the first shortstop in Padres' history to have back-to-back seasons with 10 or more home runs.

Over parts of three Major League seasons with the Padres (2003-05), Greene has a career batting average of .259 (255-for-985) with 32 home runs, 65 doubles, 141 RBI and 126 runs scored in 280 career games.

With the signing of Greene, the Padres have now agreed to terms with all 40 players on the 40-man roster.
