The Seattle native was acquired in a 1999 trade with Philadelphia and made his Major League debut with the Padres in 2000. Over parts of six Major League seasons with the Padres (2000-2005), Eaton has a career record of 45-38 with a 4.25 ERA (354 ER/749.0 IP) in 123 starts.
Tim Stauffer, 22, made 15 appearances (14 starts) for the Padres this season, going 3-6 with a 5.33 ERA (48 ER/81.0 IP). Prior to his recall on May 9 and subsequent Major League debut on May 11 at Cincinnati, Stauffer made six starts for Portland, going 2-0 with a 2.33 ERA (10 ER/38.2 IP). He went at least 6.0 innings and allowed three runs or less in five of his six starts for the Beavers.
Originally drafted by the Padres in the first round (fourth overall) of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft, Stauffer went 11-5 with a 2.89 ERA over 28 starts in his first professional season in 2004. Stauffer, who was named to play in the sixth annual Futures Game on July 11, 2004 in Houston and tossed a 1-2-3 first inning while striking out two for the U.S. team, has a career 13-5 mark with a 2.79 ERA (64 ER/206.2 IP) over 34 career minor league starts.
