Padres trade Adam Hyzdu for Scott Cassidy

The San Diego Padres traded Portland Beavers outfielder Adam Hyzdu to the Boston Red Sox for right-hander Scott Cassidy on Tuesday.

Scott Cassidy, 29, has been with the Pawtucket Red Sox of the International League. The 6-foot-2, 180 pounder was 6-3 with a 4.05 ERA in 26 games, including three starts.

Cassidy has allowed 54 hits in 60.1 innings of work, striking out 66 while walking 23. He has a 3.40 ERA as a reliever and has held the opposition to a .243 average against.

Adam Hyzdu has been with the Portland Beavers after a brief stint with the Padres earlier in the year. He played part of last season with the Red Sox and was added to the Big League club.

Hyzdu hit .275 in 62 games for Portland with 11 homers and 32 RBI's. He also walked 47 times and had one stretch during his tenure with Portland where he reached base in 34 of 35 games. Recommended Stories
