A lefty? In the bullpen?
Bynum went 6-6 with a 3.19 ERA (28 ER/79.0 IP) with six saves and 75 strikeouts in 62 games with the Beavers in 2004. For Bynum, who had been primarily a starter in his career, this season marked his first working exclusively in the bullpen.
This will be Bynum's first trip to the Majors with San Diego this season. He appeared in 13 games (five starts) between two stints with the Padres in 2003, going 1-4 with an 8.75 ERA (35 ER/36.0 IP). Over parts of two Major League seasons with the Padres (2002-03), Bynum has a career record of 2-4 with a 7.25 ERA (51 ER/63.1 IP) in 27 games (eight starts).
The addition of Bynum now puts the Padres 40-man roster at 40.
