Four added to Mobile BayBears

The San Diego Padres promoted four players from their Lake Elsinore Storm squad after the team failed to qualify for the playoffs. Paul McAnulty, Mike Richardson, David Pauley and Natanael Mateo will join the Mobile BayBears as they seek a Southern League Championship.
Paul McAnulty
ended his year as the Storm's MVP and a member of the California League post-season All-Star team. He batted .297 for the Storm in 133 games with 23 homers and 85 RBI's. He also drew 88 walks which tied for the California League lead.
McAnulty has played first base, rightfield and leftfield, with his most recent action coming in left. His .404 on base percentage placed amongst the league leaders.
Mike Richardson
will return to Mobile where he batted .222 in 22 games for the Storm. Richardson had a one game appearance with Portland where he hit a homer in four at bats but spent most of his time with Lake Elsinore. He batted .253 with 11 homers and 47 RBI's in 78 games with the Storm.
Richardson was used at both corner outfield positions and at catcher. As a catcher he swatted .325 in ten games.
David Pauley
went 7-12 in 27 games, all starts, for the Storm. He pitched in 153.1 innings and allowed 89 runs, 71 earned, on 155 hits and 60 walks. He struck out 128 and held the opposition to a .262 batting average.
Pauley went 1-4 in August but it was his strongest month of the season. His ERA for the month was just 2.82 in six starts.
Natanael Mateo
made 39 appearances, all in relief. He went 6-3 on the year with two saves and a 2.79 ERA. Mateo struck out 59 in 51.2 innings and walked just 11. The reliever held the opposition to a .228 batting average and had a stretch during June and July where he won all six of his decisions.
July proved to be his best month. He went 4-0 with a 1.76 ERA and held the opposition to a .158 batting average. striking out 22 in 15.1 innings.
