Matt Thayer promoted to Fort Wayne
He has been exceptional from the leadoff spot, batting .326, but he will likely not be placed there with Christopher Kolkhorst already dotting the Wizards lineup.
Thayer has played all three outfield positions with most of his time coming in center and right. He has an affinity towards center where he has hit .315.
"(Playing centerfield) is a change this year but it is sort of a natural spot for me since I have playing it my whole life," Thayer said. "Just last year (at UCLA) they moved me out of it for certain reasons."
He has played right field as well and that could be where he lines up with Fort Wayne for the remainder of the year, again because of Kolkhorst.
He has also done well with runners in scoring position, batting .327. For the year he has three homers, ten doubles, 25 RBI's and 29 runs scored. He has also drawn 17 walks, giving him an on base percentage of .345 on the year.
