Furmaniak walk-off; Travis Chick Interview

Baker blown up

J.J. Furmaniak hit a walk off two run homer for the Portland Beavers. Brad Baker isn't so sure after all. Baker blew a save on Tuesday, a day after RD Spiehs let a game go in his stead. Lake Elsinore could not hold an eight run lead as Clark Girardeau allowed seven runs and Aaron Coonrod helped. A day after his debut, Travis Chick talked about his first win in the San Diego Padres system. Eugene played its all-star game and the Ems were barely noticeable.

Portland won 2-1 J.J. Furmaniak provided the heroics in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a two run homer to win the game. It was his third homer in his last five games and 15th on the year. His 15 homers this year extended his career high over the 12 he managed between Lake Elsinore and Mobile in 2003. Furmaniak has a six game hitting streak, going 12-for-22 over the streak.
