Posted Jul 4, 2004

Aaron Coonrod was promoted from the Fort Wayne Wizards to the Lake Elsinore Storm on Sunday. Chuck Bechtel was then sent down to Fort Wayne in what will be his second stint of the year with the Wizards.

Aaron Coonrod appeared in 29 games for Fort Wayne in 2004. He was 1-4 with five saves in 35 2/3 innings pitched. Coonrod had allowed 37 hits and 30 walks, while striking out 33.

Coonrod was in the midst of a streak of ten games in a row without allowing an earned run.

Chuck Bechtel appeared in 14 1/3 innings for the Storm, recording one save in seven appearances. He allowed 15 hits and five walks while striking out nine. Opponents were hitting .254 off of Bechtel in the California League.

Bechtel allowed runs in five of his seven Storm appearances and allowed a runner on base and has retired the side in order in just three of his 29 appearances all year.

Prior to his call up from the Wizards in late May, he was 1-1 with a 5.34 ERA in 30 1/3 innings and 22 appearances. He has 35 strikeouts, 39 hits allowed and 23 walks issued.
