Kennard Jones was promoted to Mobile on the heels of a 4-for-5 night with the Lake Elsinore Storm. Jones, the nephew of former Celtics great Sam Jones, is a former third round pick that has ignited the Storm offense from the top of the lineup.
Kennard Jones leaves the Storm hitting .291. He has stolen 13 bases, but has been caught nine times.
With Todd Donovan on the disabled list, Jones is expected to lead off and become the table setter that Donovan was.
Rene Miniel's last outing saw him give up six runs, all earned, on five hits in one inning of relief. In 16 relief appearances, Miniel has given up a run or more in nine of them.
His promotion comes as a surprise with other relievers on the Storm having better seasons. Miniel had spent part of 2003 with the BayBears.
Miniel is averaging over a strikeout per inning. he will replace Edgar Huerta who goes on the disabled list for the second time this year.
Josh Carter played in six games for the BayBears since being promoted from Elsinore. He had started the year in Mobile before being sent down. In his last six games, Carter was 2-for-16. He was batting .273 with the Storm and leaves Mobile batting .225 on the year.
