San Antonio Missions 3 – Arkansas Travelers 6

Key Statistics: LHP Robbie Erlin 3 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 Ks; 2B Cory Spangenberg 2-4, 2B, BB; CF Travis Jankowski 1-5, 3 RBI; 1B Adam Buschini 2-4, 2B, 2 RS.

Prospect Watch Start number two in AA was not as good for Robbie Erlin. The important part was he threw 60 pitches, only 33 were for strikes, and was able to pitch out of a few jams. Erlin will get at least one more start before the Padres make a decision… Travis Jankowski made his first AA start since April 23rd. Last year in Lake Elsinore he hit .286 with 71 stolen bases. It might be hard to equal those numbers (.241, 13 SB) but if he can remain healthy it will be a step forward.

Storm 7 – Inland Empire 66ers 4

Key Statistics: RHP Rafael De Paula 5.1 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, BB, 8 Ks; DH Mallex Smith 2-4, 2B, RS, 2 SB (77); SS Jose Rodon 3-4, RS, RBI; 3B Gabriel Quintana 2-4, HR (16), RBI.

Prospect Watch Jose Rodon has continued to hit and live up to his Futures Game selection. However, while Rodon is rocking a seven game hit streak, he has just one extra-base hit, and one stolen base in that time.

TinCaps 0– Lansing Lugnuts 7

Key Statistics: RHP Ronald Herrera 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, ER, BB, 3 Ks;

Prospect Watch Jake Bauers, Fernando Perez and Franmil Reyes had singles, and were the only base runners for the TinCaps. Trea Turner failed to reach base for the first time as a TinCap.

Another day off in the NWL

AZL Padres 8 – AZL Angels 1

Key Statistics: LHP Taylor Cox 5 IP, 5 H, ER, BB, 5 Ks; 2B B.J. Guinn 1-2, 2B, RBI, BB; LF Jordan Paroubeck 3-5, 3B, HR (4), 2 RS, 4 RBI; 1B Ricardo Valenzuela 3-5, 2B, RS, RBI;

Prospect Watch Paroubeck just keeps on hitting. The outfielder continues to hit over .300 with an OPS north of .800… However bigger news of the day is catcher Rodney Daal making his first appearance of the year, after being suspended 50 games for a drug suspension back in March. Quite a few people had Daal as a Top 20 prospect before the suspension, but the fact that we haven’t seen him until now (when full season clubs are on games 110-120, so his 50 game suspension was up months ago), says something about what the Padres think of his suspension. Although you have to wonder… he is from Amsterdam.
