MadFriars' Daily Farm Report July 22

Matt Wisler

Matt Wisler was dominant and both San Antonio and AZL Padres score double digits.

El Paso Chihuahuas 2 – Sacramento River Cats 3 (13 innings)

Key Statistics: Cabby 0-3, BB; 2B Jedd Gyorko 2-6, RS; 1B Yonder Alonso 1-6; 3B Taylor Lindsey 2-5, RBI; RHP Matt Wisler 7 IP, 4 H, ER, 7 Ks.

Prospect Watch So that's the Matt Wisler that ranked #1 on the MadFriars' pre-season prospect ranking list… After allowing six runs in his last start, Wisler looked like a top prospect. Everything that was coming out of his hand seemed unhittable. He deserved the win, too bad the offense that had three current MLB players on it couldn’t score more than one run in the first eight innings.

San Antonio Missions 11 – Corpus Christi Hooks 1

Key Statistics: RHP Bryce Morrow 7 IP, 5 H, ER, BB, 4 Ks; 3B Casey McElroy 3-5, 2 HR (7), 3 RS, 5 RBI; RF Yeison Asencio 3-4, HR (7), 3 RS, 2 RBI; LF Hunter Renfroe 3-5, 2 2B.

Prospect Watch Just name a hitter not named Rymer Liriano and they had a good day. Casey McElroy is hitting .378/.442/.622 over his last 10 games.

Storm 3 – San Jose Giants 8

Key Statistics: RHP Bryan Rodriguez 5.1 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 3 BB, 3 Ks; CF Mallex Smith 3-5, RS; SS Benji Gonzalez 2-4, 2 2B; 2B Jeudy Valdez 1-2, RBI, BB.

Prospect Watch Yep… Jeudy Valdez is back with the organization. In 2011 he hit .295/./339/481 in Lake Elsinore, but he could never hit in San Antonio hitting .225 and .251 the last two years. He left as a minor league free agent but again batted .225 in AA Tennessee and was released. He is still only 25.

The TinCaps had the day off.

AZL Padres 20 – AZL Brewers 3

Key Statistics: CF Travis Jankowski 2-3, 3 RS, BB, RBI; SS Daniel Bravo 4-7, 2B, HR (1), 3 RS, 4 RBI; DH Jordan Paroubeck 3-5, HR (2), 3 RS, 3 RBI; LF/CF Michael Gettys 4-6, 3B, 2 RS, 3 RBI.
