Prospect Watch:A relatively low scoring game in El Paso...Jason Lane threw his standard workman like performance; he ate innings and kept his team in the game...In his first seven games since being recalled from AA San Antonio, Reymond Fuentes is hitting .385/.429/.654...Another player that has stayed hot in July is Cody Decker at .375/.457/.825 with five home runs in eleven games...Keyvius Sampson had one of his better relief outings since being moved to the bullpen with a pair of scoreless innings.

Prospect Watch:Casey McElroy singled in the ninth to put the Missions up 2-1 going into the bottom of the inning but with two outs in the bottom of the frame Cory Spangenberg’s error allowed the tying run to score. In the tenth reliever Luis De La Cruz walked the opening batter, who promptly stole second. A failed pickoff attempt by him moved the runner to third which was followed up by a game winning single by Midland later...Despite the error Spangenberg is having a great July at .375/.390/.600...Hunter Renfroe has his second straight multi-hit night...With Spangenberg back Casey McElroy has been seeing more time at third base...In six starts Bryce Morrow has now only allowed two earned runs once. Every other time has been one run or less.

Prospect Watch:A very good pitching performance by Zach Eflin and the Storm bullpen...In his past three starts and 17 innings Eflin has allowed two earned runs...Corey Adamson is hitting .314/.333/.486 in July. Only real negative in his numbers is being caught eight times in 20 stolen base attempts for the season...If you are in Lake Elsinore make sure you get a look at Tayron Guerrero at six-foot-seven, 190 lbs. and his plus nineties fastball. It’s a lot of arms and legs coming at you...After struggling last year in Lake Elsinore, Dane Philips has really established himself at the plate in the Cal League with a .299/.372/.579 line in 28 games since being promoted.

Prospect Watch:According to our friend Chris Goff of The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette the TinCaps are two games away from setting a Midwest League record of consecutive losses at 15 as they got their thirteenth one tonight...The TinCaps were held to only five hits and one for extra-bases...After the game the TinCaps received the news that 2014 first round draft pick SS Trea Turner will be joining Fort Wayne after hitting .228/.324/.283 in Eugene. Turner has three extra-base hits in 23 games but has nine stolen bases in ten attempts.

Prospect WatchThe Emeralds gave up three in the seventh which was enough to send the visiting Hawks home with the win....A very encouraging sign for the Padres was another solid pitching performance by 2011 first round pick RHP Michael Kelly who is still only 21. In six games he had two bad outings giving up five and seven earned runs, but in the other four he has given up two earned runs in 17.2 innings... With the promotion of Turner, Cordero will be the everyday shortstop for the Emeralds going forward. He has 11 errors in 12 games at shortstop this year and 18 in 20 games with the TinCaps.

Prospect Watch In his second start Max Fried gave up a pair of earned runs after throwing two scoreless frames in his last outing. No word yet on how long Fried will be in the AZL...OF Jordan Paroubeck is really pushing to get out of the desert as he is hitting .385/.448/.558.
