MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: June 26

With El Paso postponed it was up to San Antonio to raise the banner as Hunter Renfroe, Yeison Asencio, and Reymond Fuentes lead them to victory. Sadly, they were the only winning team tonight.

El Paso was postponed

For further reading on the El Paso Chihuahuas, see the El Paso Times.

Missions 8 – Tulsa Drillers 4

Key Statistics RHP Josh Geer 6 IP, 6 H, ER, BB, 4 Ks; PH/RF Hunter Renfroe 1-1, BB, RS; CF Reymond Fuentes 2-4, 3B, RS, 3 RBI, BB; 2B Casey McElroy 2-5, 2B, 2 RBI; RF/LF Yeison Asencio 2-4, 2 2B, 2 RS.

Prospect Watch: Reymond Fuentes quickly went from dark horse to make the Padres out of spring training to a forgotten after thought. Fuentes has made the most since his demotion down to AA ash he has hit .305/.367/.442 line across 37 AA games. In June he is hitting an even better .329/.405/.429. Despite that fact he has also been in AA for three years now, his four home runs are as many as he hit in across 136 games in AA two years ago. He is starting to hit for more power, and while he might be overshadowed now by Rymer Liriano and Hunter Renfroe, he can still be an asset to a major league roster.

Storm 8 – Lancaster Jethawks 9

Key Statistics RHP Colin Rea 5 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 Ks; SS Diego Goris 2-4, 2B, RS, 2 RBI, BB; 3B Gabriel Quintana 2-5, HR (8), RBI; RF Luis Domoromo 2-4, HR (6), RBI; PH Dane Philips 1-1, HR (3), RBI.

Prospect Watch: While the star power might be gone in Lake Elsinore, that doesn't mean that they don't have possibly the most interesting lineup in the system. Fort Wayne and San Antonio have a bunch of legitimate prospects, El Paso just has issues, and then there is Lake Elsinore. The Storm have guys like Gabriel Quintana, Luis Domoromo, Dane Phillips, Diego Goris, Duanel Jones and Alberth Martinez all of which show signs that they have the talent to be a Top 30 prospect, but are inconsistent with their performances. Can they slide in as a "C+" prospect, or are they more players who showed talent but couldn't make it out of A Bell.

TinCaps 0 – Dayton Dragons 5

Key Statistics RHP Kyle Loyd 5 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 3 Ks; SS Josh VanMeter 2-3.

Prospect Watch: Dan Langfield is an Apple Picker. In 8 innings over two starts against the TinCaps Langfield has allowed just three runners, no runs, while striking out 13. Needless to say it wasn't a good day for Fort Wayne.

For further reading on the TinCaps, see the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette.

Ems 2 – Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 5

Key Statistics RHP Logan Jerrigan 3 IP, H, 3 K; RHP Walker Lockett 3 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 Ks; SS Trea Turner 1-3, RS, BB, SB (8), E (1); 3B Chase Jensen 2-4, 2B, RS.

Prospect Watch: At least Lockett made it through three innings. In his last outing he couldn't get out of the second inning before walking six, hitting two, and boasted a 20.25 ERA. So far over three games, 6.2 innings, Lockett has allowed 10 runs on 13 hits with 12 walks. That is over three runners per inning, and an ERA of 13.50. But you had to figure there would be some rust when his last start before Eugene was in early April.

For further reading on the Emeralds, see the Eugene Register-Guard.

AZL Marines 10 - AZL Padres 8

Key Statistics:1B Jonas Lantigua 2-5, 2 2B; CF Micahel Gettys 0-4, 2 Ks; LF Jhonatan Pena 2-3,BB; DH Jordan Paroubeck 1-4 HR(1), BB; 2B Cory Spangenberg 0-2, BB; RHP Leonardo Solana (BS, 1)(L,0-1).

Prospect Watch: Jordan Paroubeck was a second round pick out out of Northern California in 2013 and may be the early breakout star of the AZL. He is hitting .435/.519/.619. It's a crowded outfield in Eugene so he may stay for awhile in the AZL and put up some numbers...Michael Gettys has struck out six times in seven games but also has a .385 OBP. He may have better plate discipline than all of expected.
