MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: June 24

On an evening when Hunter Renfroe and Tayron Guerrero were named to the futures game, the entire system goes undefeated... FINALLY!

Chihuahuas 8 – Omaha Storm Chasers 5

Key Statistics LHP Jason Lane 7 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 Ks; SS Tyler Greene 2-5, 2 2B, RS, 3 RBI; RF Jeff Francouer 4-5, 2 2B, HR (15), 2 RS, 2 RBI.

Prospect Watch: While the team is not flush with prospects, Jeff Francouer is doing his best to make a case for a call up either with the Padres or another team. Fracouer leads the club in nearly all offensive categories, and has a .940 OPS over his last two months. Over his last 52 games he has hit 12 HR, 8 2B, 34 RS, 35 RBI. The only down side is over that span Franouer has just eight walks.

Texas South (which includes San Antonio) lost 3-1

Key Statistics CF Rymer Liriano 1-3, RS, SB; C Austin Hedges 0-2; Frank Garces 0.2 IP; Luis De La Cruz 0.1 IP, K.

For further reading on the San Antonio Missions, see the San Antonio Express-News.

Storm 2 – Inland Empire 66ers 1

Key Statistics RHP Bryan Rodriguez 5 IP, H, BB, 2 K; RHP Tayron Guerrero IP, 2 Ks; 1B Duanel Jones 1-3, 3B, RS, RBI; DH Corey Adamson 2-4, RBI, SB (10).

Prospect Watch: Tayron Guerrero earned his first High- A save with a nice one-two-three inning. This came only hours after being named to the Futures Game. Since being promoted to the Cal League Guerrero has gone 2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 Ks in three appearances.

TinCaps 10 – Dayton Dragons 9

Key Statistics RHP Walker Weickel 3.2 IP 8 H, 7 R, 3 ER, 3 BB; 3B Dustin Peterson 4-6, 2B, 2 RS, RBI; RF Franmil Reyes 3-5, 2 RBI; 1B Jake Bauers 3-4, 2B, HR (6), 3 RBI; DH Ryan Miller 2-2, HR (7), 2 RS.

Prospect Watch: After April, Franmil Reyes was looked as a possible Top 10 prospect. Since then he has fallen off, and pretty quickly. Coming into today Reyes was mired in a horrendous slump. Over the last three weeks Reyes is batting just .191/.247/.250 with only four extra-base hits (0 HR). Todays' three-hit game was his most since May, and it was his first multi RBI game since early June…On the positive side the TinCaps did come back from a five-run deficit when Dustin Peterson, who is leading the MWL and organization in RBI, drove home Ryan Miller for Fort Wayne's sixth walk-off win off the year.

For further reading on the TinCaps, see the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette.

Ems 8 – TriCity Dust Devils 7

Key Statistics RHP Bryan Verbitsky 2 IP, H, BB K (S, 2); SS Trea Turner 1-4, BB, RS; 3B Chase Jensen 2-3, HR (1), 2 RS, 3 RBI; LF Yale Rosen 2-5, 2 2B, RS, 4 RBI.

Prospect Watch: Top pick from last year Bryan Verbitsky hasn't had the best run of things since being drafted. He lasted just 3.1 innings in Lake Elsinore before being demoted to Fort Wayne. He lasted there just eight innings before being demoted a second time. Thus far in Eugene he has been making the most of his chances. Through five innings he has allowed just one hit, one walk, and eight strikeouts. That was the pitcher the Padres were hoping to get. Unfortunately he is already 22, and will now need to show he can pitch at higher levels.
