MadFriars' Farm Report: May 10

All four teams lose and the Missions do it twice in a tough night for Padres' baseball, except on the big league level.

Albuquerque Isotopes 8- Chihuahuas 4

Key Statistics: 3B/LF Jonathan Galvez 2-5, HR(2), RBI; LF/1B 2-4, 2B, RBI; 1B Cody Decker 1-3, 2B, BB; RF Jeff Francoeur 2-4, HR (6); 2B/3B Tyler Greene 3-4; RHP Matt Wisler (L, 0-1)3.1 IP 8 H 6 R 5 ER BB 3 Ks 3 HRs.

Prospect Watch: Matt Wisler had his second bad outing in AAA and it was also the second time he only went three innings. He gave up back-to-back home runs in the first inning followed by a double to the next batter before striking out the next two. In the fourth inning he gave up a home run to the leadoff batter followed by a double. Wisler then got a throwing error on a pick-off attempt followed by a balk. After giving up back-to-back singles he was replaced by Branch Kloess. In two starts Wisler has now given up four home runs and has a 15.63 ERA. ...Tommy Medica is now hitting .297/.395/.595 in 41 plate appearances...C Adam Moore continues to be the most under the radar player in the system with a .360/.413/.490 line.

Prospect Watch: Not a good day as the Missions dropped both ends of a double-header to put them five games under .500...Jason Hagerty got his second start at catcher, which will definitely help the switch-hitter's chances to make a big league roster as he moves forward...Austin Hedges and Rymer Liriano have the highest batting averages of any of the Missions‘ regulars at .248. As a team San Antonio is hitting .218.

Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 8 - Storm 3

Prospect Watch: The Quakes put three runs on the board in the first and scored in the second and third as they cruised to victory. The rubber game is tomorrow...Nice to see Duane Jones having a great night as he raised his batting average 27 points. Jones has a world of talent, just has had some trouble putting it together...Hunter Renfroe is hitting .246 overall but .324 with runners on base...Interesting outing by Chris Nunn. He gave up a home run and a double in his two innings of work but struck out the side in both frames.

Prospect Watch: For the second straight day the TinCaps didn't make any errors, which is an accomplishment for a team that averaged over two a game in April, but the pitching let them down again...Mallex Smith now has 23 stolen bases in 32 games...Fernando Perez now has 18 multi-hit games this season and now has four walks in 134 plate appearances. He is second in the Midwest League with 67 total bases...Mallex Smith in addition to leading the league in stolen bases is tied for first in triples with five and third in runs scored with 24.
