Prospect Watch: Sampson easily had his best outing in AAA this afternoon. This was the first time all year he has pitched into the seventh inning. Sampson also set highs in strikeouts as well as a personal low in hits allowed and walks. Even with this start his numbers are not that appealing, but if you take out his April 15th start in New Mexico (3.1 IP, 9 ER), Sampson has a 1,80 ERA, and a 1.23 WHIP. Sampson might still end up in the bullpen as lefties are hitting over .300 with a nearly 1.000 OPS, while right handed batters are hitting .172 with a .580 OPS.

The Missions had an off-day.
Storm 1– Lancaster Jethawks 3
Prospect Watch: Chase Headley did not play… possibly from being too embaressed after watching the Padre game earlier. The offense could have used it. Rea, Nunn, and Paulis were effective on the hill, but the Storm offense couldn't get anything going. Alberth Martinez started the year off hitting .350 after three weeks. That average has dropped below .300 as Martinez is hitting just .237 over his last ten games.

TinCaps 5 – Lansing Lugnuts 12
Key Statistics CF Mallex Smith 2-4, 2B, RS, SB (22); 1B Fernando Reyes 2-5, RS, RBI; RF Franmil Reyes 2-3, RS, BB, RBI; 2B Josh VanMeter 2-4, 2B, SB (5); RHP Coby Cowgill 5 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K; RHP Bryan Verbitsky 1 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K.
Prospect Watch: Just when it looked like the TinCaps had finally solved their defensive issues they commit three errors and have another three passed balls. "Infielder" Fernando Perez is not only hitting a cool .339/.363/.508 but has also done so at every infield position with the exception of shortstop. Perez was the second offensive player signed by the Padres in the 2012 draft, after Hedges and is living up to his draft status this season.
