MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: April 11

Kelich pitched well despite the loss

Three out of four Padres' affiliates lose as fielding woes continues to plague Fort Wayne. The good news is El Paso's Jason Lane, who at 37 is attempting to resurrect his career on the mound after being a major-league outfielder.

Prospect Watch: A night of lefties and doubles. The Aces held the Chihuahuas to only three hits all of them doubles but that was enough for the victory...Lane may be the most interesting story in El Paso. In 12 innings and two starts he has given up one earned run for an 0.75 ERA and the former big league outfielder is 2-4 at the plate...First game for Maybin on his rehab stint...The game was a "home" game that was played in Tucson as the Chihuahuas are still waiting for their stadium in El Paso to be completed.

This season the Padres plan to use Portillo in relief.

Lancaster Jethawks 5 - Storm 1

Key StatisticsCF Alberth Martiniez 1-4; 3B Gabriel Quintana 1-3; DH Corey Adamson 1-2, 3B, BB; C John Nester 1-3; RHP Ruben Mejia (L, 0-1) 4.2 IP 6 H 5 R 5 ER BB 4 K.

Prospect Watch: The Storm were held to only four hits with Adamson having the only one for extra bases...Adamson needed to hit with more power this year as a corner outfielder and is off to a good start at.310/.375/.586...The Storm are off to a rough start this year at 3-6 as their pitching staff has posted an ERA of 5.47.

Key Statistics:DH Franmil Reyes 2-4, 2B; 3B Fernando Perez 2-4, 2B; RHP Pete Kelich (L, 0-2) 4.0 IP 6 H 3 R ER BB 7 Ks.

Prospect Watch Not much offense and three more fielding errors is not a good combination... A tough loss for Kelich who as the statistics indicate pitched much better than the won-loss will show...In eight games this year the TinCaps have committed 18 errors, which is a big reason why they are 2-6...For some positive news nice starts by catchers Ryan Miller, .350/.350/.450 and Dane Phillips .421/.450/.737.
