Burch Smith strikes out 10 for the first time in AAA but Layne and Quackenbush blow the lead in the…
Prospect Watch: After struggling through his first month in AAA, Quack has turned it around. He has only allowed earned runs in one of his 11 appearances in August, and has had ten consecutive scoreless appearances. During this time Quack has gone 9.2 IP, 10 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 11 K.

Prospect Watch: After possibly his last regular season start before going into the offseason where the Padres have to make a decision whether or not to protect Donn Roach. He picked the right time to get back into form. In 6.2 IP Roach threw only 72 pitches (54 strikes) and induced 11 ground ball outs. Over his last five starts Roach has gone 25.2 IP, 20 H, 6 ER, 1 BB, 10 K and has an ERA just north of two and a WHIP south of one. The biggest difference in his game has been control. During the first half Roach walked 48 in 76 innings (4.34 ERA), in the second half Roach has walked eight in 64 innings (2.67 ERA).
Lake Elsinore 3 – Lancaster Jethawks 4
Prospect Watch: It wasn't the best start for Johnny Barbato but at the very least he was able to throw a "quality start." Barbato has thrown more innings this month (26) than he did in any other month, mainly because of his move to the rotation. He is still only at 85 innings and has been notified of being selected in the Arizona Fall League.

TinCaps lose a pair 0-2, and 2-5
Prospect Watch: In the two games Hunter Renfroe went 1-6, with three strikeouts. The question was always could he make enough contact and recently it has become an issue. Renfroe has struck out 14 times in the last ten games with just a 698 OPS in Fort Wayne.

Eugene Ems 6 – Hilsboro Hops 5
Prospect Watch: After starting out the season well, Donavan Tate has forgotten how to make contact. Renfroe, as mentioned above, has struck out 14 times in the last ten games, but Tate has struck out 12 times in the last 5 games. He hasn't had an extra-base hit in over a week and has more than doubled his strikeout total from his previous 14 games combined.
Final regular season game of the year was postponed for the AZL Padres.
