Prospect Watch: After a few great months it looks like we are back to the old Sampson. Sampson has walked 12 batters in the last 9 innings. In 15 AAA innings since being promoted, Sampson has now walked 15 batters. Compare that to walking only 33 batters in 103 AA innings.

Prospect Watch: Over his last four starts Wisler has gone 3-0, allowing only one run on seven hits in 21 innings while striking out 26. He has been about as dominant as a pitcher can be in the Texas League. Wisler has 128 strikeouts in 120 innings while walking only 33… Cory Spangenberg hit his second homerun in 63 Texas League games. Spangenberg has hit for a respectable average (.276) moderate stolen bases (15), but has only ten extrabase hits and has struck out 52 times compared to only 15 walks.
Prospect Watch: With no Peterson in the lineup, and Bryce Morrow being hit hard, the top prospect of the night is either Dane Phillips or Cory Hebner. Phillips has struggled to a .525 SLG % in the Cal League. Hebner has struggled the last 2 months posting a 4.99 ERA, and walking 17 in his last 30.2 innings. He has rebounded recently throwing 5.2 scoreless allowing just one hit while striking out six.

Prospect Watch: Roman Madrid picked up his 21st save of the year. After posting a 1.11 ERA through his first 29 games (32 innings), he has come crashing back to Earth to the tune a 5.40 ERA and a WHIP of nearly 2. He is still striking out nearly a hitter an inning, and has yet to allow a homerun this year.

AZL Padres 1 – AZL Rangers 6
Prospect Watch: Dustin Peterson is hitting a solid .297 in 37 games. Unfortunately, the power that made his brother such a high first round pick has not yet shown up in the younger brother. The 18 year-old has only eight extra base hits all year (all doubles), and only one double in the last two weeks.
