Everyone, the big club and the DSL Padres won last night except the Fort Wayne TinCaps on the night of Hunter Renfroe's Midwest League debut. Good performances by Reymond Fuentes and Keyvius Sampson in Tucson along with Jace Peterson in Lake Elsinore.

T-Padres 6 New Orleans Zephyrs 2

Key Statistics: CF Reymond Fuentes 2-3, BB, 2 SBs; RF Robertson 2-5, 2 RBIs, 2B; PH Moore 1-1 HR(13); RHP Keyvius Sampson (W, 1-1) 6.0 IP 3 H R ER 3 BBs 6 Ks.

Prospect Watch: Reymond Fuentes had a solid debut for his first game in AAA getting on base three times and stealing a pair of bases as he scored two runs to pace the T-Pads at home in Tucson. Fuentes had struggled in July with the Missions with a .244 batting average but seemed to be returning to what he did in the first half of the season with a strong eight game stint (.417 batting average) before being called up to AAA. ....It was the return to AAA of Keyvius Sampson, who looked much better than in his earlier stint as he went six strong innings to get his first win in Tucson.

Missions 4 NW Arkansas 1

Key Statistics CF Rico Noel 2-3, BB; SS Jeudy Valdez 1-3,RBI; LHP Juan Oramas (W, 1-2) 5.0 IP 4 H R ER 5 Ks; RHP Jeremy McBryde (S, 12) 1.0 IP K.

Prospect Watch: The Missions got their sixth straight win despite not having one extra-base hit on Saturday...Lefty Juan Oramas had his second straight strong outing where he only gave up a single earned run in five innings. Oramas was one of the better Padres’ pitching prospects in 2011 before going down with an injury is making a strong comeback since being activated on June 30...Closer Jeremy McBryde now has a 1.98 ER in 54.2 innings pitched with 68 strikeouts against only 13 walks.

Storm 5 Inland Empire 411 innings

Key Statistics SS Jace Peterson 4-5, BB, RBI, 2B; C Jeremy Rodriguez 1-3, 2B, 2 BBs; RF Kyle Gaedele 1-4, HR (10), 2 BBs; 1B A.J. Kirby-Jones 0-1, 3 BBs; RHP Justin Hancock 6.0 IP 7 H 4 R 2 ER Bb K; RHP Trevor Holder (W, 4-7) 1.0 IP K.

Prospect Watch: A big night for Jace Peterson as he accounted for half of the Storm’s hits in their one run victory in Lake Elsinore. The Quackes sank themselves as their pitchers issued ten walks in the game. DH Dane Phillips hit a game winning walk-off double in the bottom of the eleventh scoring Peterson who led off the inning with a walk...Peterson, after a scorching June, slowed down in July with a .255/.330/.372 line, but is now hitting .444/.615/.833 in his first five games in August. Overall he’s having a good season with the Storm hitting .302/.376/.455 with 37 stolen bases and 35 extra-base hits including 12 triples.

Dayton Dragons 7 TinCaps 6

Key Statistics: CF Mallex Smith 2-5, RBI; RF Hunter Renfroe 2-4, 2B, RBI, BB; 1B Luis Tejada 2-4; C Rodney Daal 3-4, HR (8); RHP Walker Weickel (L, 3-6) 4.2 IP 11 H 7 R 7 ER BB 5 Ks.

Prospect Watch The TinCaps dropped their fourth straight as a two-run ninth inning rally fell short...Hunter Renfroe had another good kick-off in his opening debut in Fort Wayne the same way he did in Eugene. The Padres hope Renfroe will put up numbers in the Summit City so he can begin 2014 in Lake Elsinore..Weickel had his worst outing of the year in allowing seven earned runs which pushed his overall ERA to 5.74. After a solid June where he was 2-0 with a 3.05 ERA, Walker has struggled in July (7.05) and now in two starts in August (7.71).

Emeralds 3 Spokane Indians 2

Key Statistics: 3B Chase Jensen 3-4, 2B; DH Henry Charles 3-3; SS Anthony Torres 2-3, RBI; RF Donavan Tate 0-4, 2 Ks; RHP Adam Cimber (W, 3-1) 1.0 IP BB 2 Ks.

Prospect Watch Donavan Tate is going to get fellow first round draft pick Hunter Renfroe's starts in right field. He played in his third game tonight and took the collar. The Padres are hoping returning to Eugene will spark Tate to return to his 2011 form for the Emeralds when he put up the best numbers of his career with a .283/.406/.409 line. Its a long way back and he has a lot of people pulling for him...Adam Cimber was the Padres’ ninth round pick in this year’s draft from the University of San Francisco. The side-arming right-hander has put up good numbers for the Ems with a 2.78 ERA and a 22/4 K/BB ratio in 22.2 innings pitched. He leads the Ems in saves with seven in ten opportunities.

For further reading on the Emeralds, see the Eugene Register-Guard.

AZL Padres 4 AZL Athletics 2

Key Statistics SS Franchy Cordero 3-4, HR(3), RBI; 1B Jake Bauers 2-4; DH Tyler Dial 2-4; C Jose Ruiz 3-4, 2B; 2B Josh Van Meter 1-4, 2 RBIs; RHP Eric Yardley (W, 1-0) 2.0 IP 3 H 4 Ks; RHP Sam Holland (S, 5) 1.0 IP H.

Prospect Watch: Jake Bauers, Franchy Cordero, Josh Van Meter and Dustin Peterson could all form one of the youngest infields the Padres have ever put in low-A Fort Wayne in 2014. All of them are young and all can hit. Cordero, who hit his third home run of the season may draw the most interest as the six-foot three shortstop has the type of rangy athletic build you like to see. He also has eleven errors in 32 games to go along with his .341/.386/.523 line. But there is a lot to be excited about.
