MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: August 5

On a night when half the affiliates had the day off, Zach Eflin led the TinCaps to a much needed shutout win.

Nashville Sounds 5 – Tucson Padres 4

Key Statistics LHP Robbie Erlin 5 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, BB, 6 Ks; RF Jaff Decker 2-5, RS; LF Brandon Allen 2-3, 2B, RS, RBI, BB.

Prospect Watch: Robbie Erlin had one bad inning and that was the difference in the game. While his overall numbers line was forgettable, it was the first time in a month that Erlin had struck out six or more hitters. It was also the first time in a month that Erlin had walked fewer than two hitters in a start. He is still only twenty-two and has a lot of potential, but he will not reach it until he can keep the ball down on a regular basis.

Day off for the Missions, Storm and Ems

Fort Wayne TinCaps 2 – Lansing Lugnuts 0

Key Statistics RHP Zach Eflin 7 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, BB, 4 K; 3B Gabriel Quintna 2-3, RS, RBI.

Prospect Watch: At least one of the big name starters from the 2012 draft class is performing as well. Efrin has made 19 starts this season. He has allowed more than two runs in a start all of one time. After having a 6.06 ERA in April, Eflin's highest ERA over the next four months was a 2.57 ERA in June. Every month has been less than 2.6 since April.
