Tacoma Rainiers 4 – Tucson Padres 2
Key Statistics RHP Brandon Kloess 7 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, BB, 2 Ks; CF Jaff Decker 2-4, 2B, RBI,
Prospect Watch: Jaff Decker continues to remain hot. The former top prospect who hasn’t hit over .250 since 2010, has now hit safely in eight of his last ten games including five multi-hit games. In the last two months Decker is hitting .342/.413/.475 with seven doubles and three home runs.

San Antonio Missions 4 – Corpus Christi Hooks 6
Key Statistics RHP Donn Roach 6 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, BB, 2Ks, 3 HBP; RF Yeison Asencio 1-4, HR (2), 2 RBI; DHEverett Williams and CRocky Gale 2-4
Prospect Watch: Don’t let Roach’s stat line fool you, he pitched better than the five earned runs allowed. With two on and one out Roach rolled a would be double play ball. They got the out at second but Valdez threw the ball away allowing a run to score and the other runner to second. Instead of the inning being over with the score 2-1 Missions, the tying run scored, and the next two batters hit a double and a homerun to make the score 2-5. Since you can’t guarantee the double play, all five runs were earned. Outside of that inning, Roach rolled ten other groundball outs including two other double plays.

Lake Elsinore Storm 13 – Inland Empire 66ers 6
Key Statistics RHP James Needy 5 IP, 4 H, ER, 2 BB, 2 Ks; CF Travis Jankowski 3-6, 2 RS, RBI, 3 SB (59); SS Jace Peterson 4-5, 2B, 2 RS, 5 RBI, BB; 1B Lee Orr 2-4, 2B, HR (8), 2 RS, RBI, BB.
Prospect Watch: Jace Peterson had his career high in RBIs tonight with five. After starting July hitting .180 through the first ten games, Peterson has rebounded hitting in nine straight including a run in eight straight games. During the streak Peterson is hitting .421/.488/..579 with six stolen bases.

Cedar Rapids Kernels 11 – Fort Wayne TinCaps 4
Key Statistics RHP Walker Weickel 3 IP, 7 H, 7 ER, 1 BB, 1 K; CF Mallex Smith 2-4, 2B, 2 RS, BB, SB (39); 1B Diego Goris 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI, BB
Prospect Watch: The Padres seem to have an affinity for light hitting plus defensive centerfielders with great speed. Mallex Smith joins Travis Jankowski and Rico Noel as a center fielder with 30+ stolen bases. In July, Smith has 11 stolen bases, and hasn’t been caught in nearly two weeks. While Smith is hitting better (.300/.364/.400 in last 10), he is still only hitting .247/.346/.339 on the season.

Eugene Emeralds 2– Vancouver Canadiens 4
Key Stats: RF Hunter Renfroe 0-4, K; LF Marcus Davis 2-4, RS; CF Henry Charles 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI; LHP Erik Schoenrock 5 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
Prospect Watch: After allowing only one earned run in his last two starts (11 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 11 K), Schroenrock had one bad inning where he allowed four runs on six hits. Even with the four earned runs allowed the lefty still has a stellar 2.75 ERA… After starting the year hitting over .600, Renfroe has cooled off going 3-22 with zero extra base hits over the last five games.

AZL Padres 1– AZL Rangers 12
Key Stats: LHP Payton Baskette 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1BB, 4 K; 3B Dustin Peterson 1-4
Prospect Watch: Not much to say as the AZL Padres were blown out. They managed only three hits, all singles, in the game. 1B Jake Bauers who was drafted as a guy “who can really hit,” is hitting just .186 on the season.
