While many minor leagues had the night off for the Major League All-Star Game, San Antonio and…
Key Statistics: CF Travis Jankowski 2-5, 3B; 1B A. J. Kirby-Jones 3-5, 3 RBI, 2B; 3B Duanel Jones 3-5, RBI; RF Kyle Gaedele 2-4, RBI; 2B B.J. Guinn 1-4, RBI, BB; SS Jace Peterson 1-5, 2 RBI2 SB(32); RHP Matt Jackson (W, 6-3) 6.1 IP 5 H 4 R 4 ER 2 BB 4 Ks.
Prospect Watch: The Storm swept the Giants..Jace Peterson stole his 32nd base and is now 32 for 38 on the year. Peterson is having a good year but at this level one would still like to see his OBP (.354) a little higher. Most in the organization believe that as he progresses and get s additional plate appearances his batting eye will improve. He makes a lot of contact but just needs to be a touch more selective. His BB/K ratio is 38/43..A possible sleeper for next year may be outfielder Jeremy Blatz. The St. John's grad hit his fifth home run in only 25 games to go along with his .330 batting average…A nice outing by Matt Jackson. He has been a little hittable this season with 108 hits in 85.1 innings but has posted a good K/BB ratio at 58/18.

Prospect Watch: The TinCaps split their six game road trip at 3-3.. Despite not having one extra-base hit the TinCaps were able to put five runs on the board…Walker Weickel, the righty from Florida whom Darren Balsley thought was comparable to Adam Wainwright got the win. At 6'6" he has a very good 12-6 curve and is holding his own in the Midwest League at only 19…The TinCaps need a bat and have to wonder when Hunter Renfroe is going to make his way to the Summit City.
For further reading on the TinCaps, see the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette.
Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 8 - Emeralds 4
Prospect Watch: The good news is that Hunter Renfroe stepped up to the plate in the first inning and launched a home run over left field to give the Ems the lead. After that it didn't go so well. ..Erik Cabrera, who started the year in Fort Wayne, didn't last a full inning as he gave up four earned runs. In seven starts in Eugene Cabrera has given up four or more earned runs three times and has only gone five innings once…Through five games Hunter Renfroe's slash line is .400/.455/.750.
For further reading on the Emeralds, see the Eugene Register-Guard.
Prospect Watch; Nice to see middle infielder Josh VanMeter put together good back-to-back games with another two hit performance. VanMeter led his Indiana high school team to the 3A state championship and this year's fifth round pick could be in the mix to the starting shortstop at Fort Wayne next season.
