Renfroe gave the Ems a much needed offensive boost as he led Eugene to a victory. Elsewhere in the…
Prospect Watch: Yonder Alonso continued his rehab stint in Tucson. After playing only part of the game in his last few outings, tonight he was allowed to play the entire game. While he thinks he is ready to come off the DL, with the All Star Break coming up the Padres do not seem to be in a rush to bring him back… Kevin Quackenbush still has a problem with location. In 31 innings in San Antonio Quackenbush walked 10 batters… In 13 innings in Tucson, Quack has walked 12.

Prospect Watch: Welcome to AA Robert Kral. The catcher who came out of nowhere to tear the cover off the ball in Lake Elsinore saw his first action since his promotion to AA. The 24 year-old not only went 2-4, and scored the game winning run on a bases loaded HBP in the seventh inning but also called a great three-hit shutout. Baseball is all about making the most out of your opportunities, and Kral has certainly done that this year.
Prospect Watch: Returning to the Diamond after reinjuring his groin, Jedd Gyorko seemed to be completely healthy. After hitting a single in his first at bat, Gyorko was able to score from second on a two out single. In his second at bat Gyorko doubled to right, once again showing no ill effect from the injury. While Bud Black has stated that Gyorko could return to the team this weekend, with the All Star Break next week there does not appear to be a reason to rush him back.

Prospect Watch: After starting the year on fire the Fort Wayne starters have hit a rough patch. Over the last two weeks the starters have a combined ERA of over six. The one exception has been Zach Eflin, who has not allowed more than two earned runs since April. While Eflin did allow more hits than he had in the last three months, he did not walk a batter for the first time in seven starts… Over the last ten games, C Dane Phillips is hitting .417/.500/.583

Prospect Watch: Send Hunter Renfroe now please. Its been a tough year so far for the Emeralds with most of the top picks in this year's draft from the high school ranks.

AZL Cubs 14 – AZL Padres 2
Prospect Watch: Of the three young high school position players from this years' draft, Dustin Peterson (3B/DH), Jake Bauers (1B) and Josh VanMeter (SS/2B), Peterson is off to the best start so far with a .273/.322/.373 slash line after around 50 plate appearances...don't read too much into these numbers because the players are essentially being thrown out there without too much instruction. The organization will evaluate them and go from there.
