MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: June 11

Robbie Erlin came back to form

TinCaps clinch a playoff spot, Erlin gets a W, and the Storm improve to 9-3 in the month of June

Fresno Grizzlies 2 – Tucson Padres 7

Key Statistics LHP Robbie Erlin 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K (W, 5-1, 3.75 ERA); RHP Brad Boxberger 2 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 5 K; CF Jaff Decker 3-4, RS; 2B Jonathan Galvez 2-4, RS, RBI, SB (13)

Prospect Watch: After a shaky first start back in AAA, Robbie Erlin rebounded nicely earning his fifth win in Tucson. While Erlin's overall start was better as a whole, he still struggled at times to find home plate. However his one walk is a tribute to how he was able to battle back and record outs thanks to good movement on his fastball. He threw 91 pitches (53 strikes) in just five innings. .. Brad Boxberger returned to AAA for the first time since his demotion. He struck out five of the nine batters he faced, and has now struck out 36 in just 24 innings.

San Antonio Missions 2 – Corpus Christi Hooks 6

Key Statistics RHP Donn Roach 6 IP, 10 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 4 K (L, 4-6, 4.52 ERA); LF Reymond Fuentes 3-4

Prospect Watch: When you live by the sinker you die by the sinker. RHP Donn Roach once again struggled to keep the ball low in the zone. After the first couple innings, Roach started elevating the sinker and hitters were not missing. Ground balls turned into fly balls, and bloopers turned into line drives. Before all was said and done, Roach had given up five runs on 10 hits… Corey Spangenberg has struggled since his promotion to AA. In a small sample size Spangenberg has gone 2-for-17 including one for his last 15. Neither hit has left the infield.

Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 3 – Lake Elsinore Storm 6

Key Statistics RHP Cody Hebner 2 IP, 1 K (W, 1-0, 3.12 ERA); 1B Robert Kral 2-3, 2B, 3B, RS, RBI; CF Travis Jankowski 2-3, RS, RBI, BB, 2 CS (7)

Prospect Watch: Cody Hebner picked up his first win of the year this afternoon. The RHP consistently hit 95 on the mound and hitters could not catch up. With two scoreless innings, Hebner extended his scoreless streak to 14 innings. Hebner hasn't allowed a hit in seven innings and for the year opponents are now hitting below .200.

. Fort Wayne TinCaps 7 – Dayton Dragons 4

Key Statistics RHP Zach Eflin 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K (W, 3-4, 3.42 ERA); SS Maxx Tisssenbaum 4-5, 2 2B, RS, RBI; LF Wynton Bernard 2-4, 3B, RS, 3 RBI

Prospect Watch: Oh Canada! Maxx Tissenbaum had arguably his best performance in his short career with a four-hit, two-RBI performance. While Tissenbaum was drafted as a second baseman, he has been playing more shortstop as the year goes on. If the move becomes permanent, it could make Tissenbaum more of a prospect. While he does not hit for much power or speed, he has a great eye at the plate and is the ultimate contact hitter. He has struck out just 19 times in 59 games with 29 walks and a .391 OBP.
