MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: June 6

Robbie Erlin struggled in his return

Robbie Erlin returned to the mound for Triple-A Tucson but struggled to find control. The TinCaps were the only winners on a night that the Padres added some much needed power through the draft.

Sacramento River Cats 9 – Tucson Padres 3

Key Statistics LHP Robbie Erlin 5 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 2 K (L, 4-1, 3.97 ERA); SS Dean Anna 2-4, 2B, RS, BB; 1B Cody Decker 2-4, HR (5), RBI

Prospect Watch:It was a rough welcome back for Robbie Erlin. The lefty made his first start since having a great spot start for the Padres, and from the beginning everything was off. His location wasn't on target, and while his results were not horrible it was not what Padre fans were expecting. Erlin had his highest walk total of the year and his second=lowest strikeout total.

San Antonio Missions 2 – Frisco RoughRiders 3

Key Statistics LHP Jose De Paula 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K; CF Reymond Fuentes 2-4, RS, BB; RF Kalian Sams 2-3, 2B, HR (10), 2 RBI, BB

Prospect Watch: Sams became the first Mission to reach double figures in homeruns despite missing April. The 26 year old is having a season unlike any he has had. Last year in 76 games Sams had 11 HR, 23 BB, 81 K. In 26 games now with the Missions Sams has 10 HR, 20 BB, 24 K… Reymond Fuentes had another multi-hit game and raised his OPS to an impressive .882. Fuentes came up with two on and two out in the 9th with a chance to be the hero, but grounded out to third to end the game.

Visalia Rawhide 5 – Lake Elsinore Storm 2

Key Statistics RHP Trevor Holder 6.2 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 5 K; CF Travis Jankowski 2-5, 2 RS, 2 SB (38); Cory Spangenberg 2-5. 2B. SB (17)

Prospect Watch: Don't let the mediocre line fool you. Trevor Holder pitched well through the first five, allowing just one run on a few scratch hits. That all changed in the later innings as Holder gave up four runs… After stealing 13 bases in April, Spangenberg has applied the brakes. He stole only two bases in all of May (2 CS). Hopefully he is starting to turn things around with his second stolen base in June. Over the last week, Spangenberg is hitting .368/.478/.421. The only down side is his strikeout rate is extremely high with 8 K over 6 games.

. Fort Wayne TinCaps 5 – Lansing Lugnuts 3

Key Statistics RHP Bryan Rodriguez 5 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0 K (W, 1-0, 1.04 ERA); LF Corey Adamson 2-4, 2B, SB (15); 1B Luis Tejada 2-5, 2B, 2 RS, RBI, SB (7)

Prospect Watch: Bryan Rodriguez made his second start for the TinCaps and was allowed to go five innings for the first time. The 6'5" Dominican was has been a master of the grounder averaging nearly a 4:1 GO/FO ratio. RHP Leonel Campos has owned the MWL. The 25 year old faced five batters in earning a four out save… and struck out three of them. He now boasts 50 strikeouts in 28.1 innings.
