Prospect Watch: The day after applauding Maybin for his lack of strikeouts on rehab, Maybin struck out three times, including striking out to end the game… After striking out and hitting into a double play in his first game in two months, Forsythe came back tonight and came a home run shy of the cycle. Forsythe also went 3-3 in the field, easily fielding all grounders hit to short… Brad Brach has no allowed a run in three of his four AAA outings.

Prospect Watch: Robert Kral hit his first home run in 30 at bats as he extended his Padres’ system lead with his 10th homerun… After collecting only six extra base hits in April (5 2B, 1 3B, .357 SLG), Spangenberg has rebounded with 15 extra base hits in May (6 2B, 5 3B, 4 HR, .551 SLG). While his slugging percentage has increased in May, his stolen bases have gone down from 13 in April to 2 in May.

Key Statistics RHP Bryan Rodriguez 3.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K (ND, 0.73 ERA); LF Mallex Smith 2-5, HR (3), RBI, SB (17); 2B Maxx Tissenbaum 2-3, 2 2B, RS, RBI, BB.
Prospect Watch: 22 year old Bryan Rodriguez made a spot start for injured pitcher Ruben Mejia. Rodriguez hasn’t pitched in a week but was still limited to 50 pitches, which he reached after 3.2 innings. While the ERA (0.73) and BAA (.233) are impressive he is averaging just 3 K/9 .. RF Corey Adamson has been struggling in May hitting just .215/.337/.291 after posting an .878 in April. Adamson hit his first HR in 30 games today and got his first RBI in nearly two weeks. While Adamson has posted just a .533 OPS in the last two weeks, his walk to strikeout ratio has managed to be close to 1:1 (25:29) which is a drastic improvement over the last few years.
