Tucson Padres 8 – Albuquerque Isotopes 3
Key Statistics RHP Thad Weber 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K (W, 4-1); LF James Darnell 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI, RS; C Rene Rivera 2-4, 2B, RS, 2 RBI
Prospect Watch: LF James Darnell collected his first outfield assist of the year when a hitter tried to turn a long single into a double. He also broke the game open with a two RBI double in the fifth… Poor Thad Weber. Despite playing well, and saving the Padres in a game earlier this year, he is the likely DFA candidate when Smith is promoted. Nothing Weber can do but pitch well, and that is exactly what he did.

Missions had the day off
No starter has been announced yet. It will be interesting to see how they reshuffle to rotation with Smith leaving and Wisler being called up.

Game 1: Lancaster Jethawks 2 – Lake Elsinore Storm 7
Key Statistics LHP Frank Garces 5 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K (W, 4-2); 2B Cory Spangenberg 2-3, 2B, HR (3), 2 RS, 3 RBI, BB; LF Justin Miller 1-3, HR (1), 2 RBI
Prospect Watch: Austin Hedges is on the 7 day DL. Frank Garces set a goal in the offseason to work on his control. Clearly it has worked. The lefty went from 4.1 walks per 9 in 2012 down to 2.25 walks per 9 this year.
Game 2: Lancaster Jethawks 2 – Lake Elsinore Storm 4
Key Statistics 2B Cory Spangenberg 2-4, 2B, 2 RS; RF Yeison Asencio 3-4, 3B, RS, RBI
Prospect Watch: It might be repetitive when a player is on fire, but after going 4-7, today with four runs, two doubles and a homer, Cory Spangenberg has now had four consecutive multi-hit games. While Spangenberg has only hit 14 extra-base hits in 29 games this season, he has collected seven in his last four games.

Great Lakes Loons 5 – Fort Wayne TinCaps 6
Key Statistics RHP Joe Ross 6.1 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 1 K; 1B Luis Tejada 1-4, 3B, 2 RBI; Gabriel Quintana 2-4, 2B, RS, RBI; LF Corey Adamson 1-4, RS, RBI, SB (8)
Prospect Watch: Through six innings, Joe Ross was about as dominant as they get. He had faced just one over the minimum, and of the 19 batters he faced, just three had hit the ball out of the infield. In the seventh however, Ross loaded the bases on a HBP and two seeing eye singles. After a popup, Ross got his inning ending double play ball, but it was just out of the reach of 2B Maxx Tissenbaum. The next batter hit the first hard ball of the game for a double and that was the end of the day. … Luis Tejada hit his second triple of the year to tie the game with two outs in the 8th. The 20-year-old first baseman has yet to hit a home run stateside, and has only managed seven extra base hits in 26 games. Despite that, he couldn’t have picked a better time to hit the triple as he picked up Joe Ross’ failure after the seventh.
