Fresno Grizzlies 4 – Tucson Padres 2
Key Statistics RHP Eddie Bonine 3 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K; RF Jaff Decker 1-3, 2B, RS; 2B Jonathan Galvez 3-4, 2B, 2 RBI.
Prospect Watch: With Thad Weber in San Diego, the T-Pads turned to free agent signing Eddie Bonine. The knuckleballer was on a pitch count, and reached it in the fourth, throwing 43 pitches, with 27 for strikes … After a three hit performance, Jonathan Galvez has now raised his batting average to over .300. He is riding a five game hitting streak, and has hit a double in each one.

Frisco RoughRiders 6 – San Antonio Missions 1
Key Statistics RHP Burch Smith 5 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K; RF Reymond Fuentes 0-1, 3 BB.
Prospect Watch: The Missions’ collected three hits and committed three errors… Burch Smith had his toughest outing, but still was dominant. While he did allow five hits, he managed to pitch out of trouble multiple times due to errors. He was economical with his pitches, throwing only 70 pitches in five innings. In four starts this year opponents are hitting only .153 against Smith while boasting a 10.3 K/9, and a stellar 8 K/BB… After hitting over .300 in April last year, Rico Noel is 0 for his last 17 with seven strikeouts. While he is leading the league in stolen bases with 11 and in run scored with 10, he is going to have a problem remaining the starting centerfielder if he cannot hit over .200.

Lancaster Jethawks 5 – Lake Elsinore Storm 4
Key Statistics Matt Wisler 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, K; DH Luis Domoromo 1-3, 2B, RS, 2 RBI; SS Jace Peterson 2-3, SB (6).
Prospect Watch: While other sites are reporting that Wisler was “roughed up” in his performance, it is hard to argue when a pitcher allows just four hits, all singles, in five innings with seven strikeouts. In fact the seven strikeouts is a season high. Wisler threw 77 pitches in the five innings… After starting the season out strong, Asencio is mired in a 3-26 slump, with zero extra base hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. Asencio’s line has now dropped to .233/.250/.452… Jace Peterson has six hits in his last ten at bats…. Since missing five days, Spangenberg is hitting .214/.313/.250 with one stolen base.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 6 – Bowling Green Hot Rods 12
Key Statistics RHP Erik Cabrera 3.1 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 3 BB, 1 K; C Dane Phillips 2-4, 2B, RS; LF Jeremy Baltz 2-4, HR (4), 2 RBI.
Prospect Watch: Anytime the opponent scores a run in EVERY inning, chances are you will not win. Which is what happened to Fort Wayne yesterday… Dane Phillips has been by far the best hitter on the TinCaps. The former second round pick, ranks near the top in the league in the three "triple slash categories" at .389/.452/.694… Jeremy Baltz, "the other" second round pick from the 2012 draft is also an interesting case as he has 13 hits this year, but seven of them have been for extra bases, three doubles and four home runs. In addition he has one walk compared to 15 strikeouts. However he is hitting an unimpressive .220/.254/.475 this season.
