MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: April 20

Despite the loss, Lollis has pitched well.

The system splits but Fort Wayne's bats erupt for seventeen runs as for once the bats get the attention in the Summit City.

T-Pads 5 - Fresno Grizzlies 4

Key Statistics: RF J. Decker 2-5; CF Dan Robertson 1-3, BB, SB; 3B Jonathan Galvez 1-3, 2B, BB; 2B Dean Anna 1-3, 2B, BB; C Jason Hagerty 2-4; RHP Sampson 4.0 IP 3 H 2 R 2 ER 4 BBs 2 Ks, HR; RHP Ryes (W) 1.2 IP 3 H R ER 2 Ks; RHP Boxberger (S) 1.0IP 2 H BB K.

Prospect Watch CF Dan Robertson may have won the game with an eighth inning diving catch with the bases loaded with Grizzlies to take away a potential triple.. At the plate he had a typical night; he filled a box score...Another tough start by Keyvius Sampson...one of the biggest things the Padres wanted to see Jaff Decker do was hit the ball the other way or up the middle for singles instead of trying to pull everything for power. Last night he hit two singles up the middle and now has an on-base percentage of .377.

Midland Rockhounds 4 - Missions 1

Key Statistics: RF Fuentes 2-4, SB (8); DH Kirby-Jones 2-3; 2B Bisson 1-3, SB(2), RBI; RHP Boscan (L) 4.0 IP 3 H R ER 2 BBs 2 Ks

Prospect Watch: This is supposed to Adys Portillo's turn in the rotation and right now the Missions are using a patchwork of relief pitchers in his place...First Everett Williams and now Reymond Fuentes. Are there any more players that MadFriars can write off and come back to send it in our faces? Maybe Donavan Tate should show up in San Antonio...Fuentes is having the best month of his career hitting .328/.381/.552 and has eight steals in nine attempts

Visalia Rawhide 4 - Storm 3

Key Statistics: 1B Lee Orr 3-5, HR(4); 3B Duanel Jones 2-4; DH Kral 1-3, BB; SS Peterson 2-4; RHP Colin Rea 5.0 IP H R 7 BBs 6 Ks; RHP Matt Lollis (L) 1.0 IP R BB 2Ks.

Prospect Watch: Big Matt Lollis was done in by a throwing error by C Austin Hedges in the eighth inning which put two runners on with no outs in a tie game. Give Lollis some credit, after a sacrifice and fielder's choice that scored the lead runner he had to endure another error, this one by third baseman Duanel Jones. Lollis came back and struck out the next two batters. Despite the loss, Lollis seems to be finding his niche in the relief role with 13 strikeouts in 9.2 innings pitched...Backup catcher Robert Kral is going to have trouble seeing playing time with Hedges but his bat is forcing his way into the lineup. He's hitting .458. Keep an eye on him, he has smooth left-handed swing...2B Corey Spangenberg stole his tenth base in eleven attempts...as David pointed out last night 1B Lee Orr is simply tearing it up. His fourth home run ties him with San Antonio's Tommy Medica for the organization lead.

TinCaps 17 - Lansing Lugnuts 4

Key Statistics:RF Corey Adamson 3-4, 2B, 2 BB, 4 RBI; 2B Maxx Tissenbaum 3-4, BB, RBI; C Dane Philips 4-6, 3B, HR, 3 RBI; LF Alberth Martiniez 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI; SS Stephen Carmon 3-4, 2B, BB; LHP Max Fried 4.0 IP 7 H 4 R 4 ER 2BB 5Ks; RHP Ruben Mejia (W) 3.0 IP 3H R ER BB 7Ks.

Prospect Watch: First the bad news..The TinCaps were down 4-0 with Max Fried having the worst outing of his professional career and then they kind of came back...Fort Wayne then put 17 runs on the board...Four TinCaps had three hits or more and Dane Phillips had four, including a triple and home run pushing his batting average to .387..Best outing of the young season by Mejia who struggled in his last appearance four days ago...Australian Corey Adamson, after two previous stints in the Summit City that fell flat in 2011 and 2012, is finding his stride this season at .341/.471/439...Despite being overshadowed by some very good pitching the TinCaps are hitting .272/.354/.423 as a team.
