Missions had the day off.
Prospect Watch: No Top 30 prospects took the mound for the Storm… Austin Hedges had a rough eighth inning. After a one out double, a passed ball by Hedges allowed the runner to get to third. After a walk the runner from first tried to steal second, and had Hedges throw the ball into center field. The runner from third scored Luckily Matt Lollis was able to escape the inning without any further damage… While the Storm had three home runs they only had four opportunities with runners in scoring position… SS Jace Peterson has started the year 4-26 with 1 SB in 6 games.

Prospect Watch: Weickel, sounds like Michael, made his full season debut today. He looked great over the first three innings, but then became a completely different pitcher in the fourth. The turning point might have been a play that never happened. With two outs and a runner at first in the third, Devon Travis bunted back to Weickel. Unfortunately he air mailed first base. Luckily Adamson made a good play at the plate to throw the runner out. However, none of this was in the boxscore as the home plate umpire ruled the batter out for running outside the base path. Either way Weickel came out in the fourth and was a completely different pitcher. He was lobbing pitches down the middle, and then overcompensated and hit a batter. Not a bad overall first start, just curious how he suddenly lost the feel for the ball… Mallex Smith is trying to put himself on the prospect chart. The center fielder, who is arguably the fastest runner in the system, has finished the first week 7-20 with seven runs scored and more walks (4) thank strikeouts (3).
