The Storm eked out a 1-0 victory on Sunday, putting themselves in position to claim the final playoff spot with a win in the season's final contest. San Antonio wins on a walk-off single while Tucson loses in extra innings.

Reno 4 Tucson 4

Key Stats: CF Tekotte 2-4, HR, Outfield Assist; RHP Bass 3 IP, 5H, 4R, 3ER, 5K, 0BB; RHP Ohlendorf 6IP, 6H, 1ER, 2K, 1BB

Anthony Bass made his final rehab appearance for Tucson, working three innings with mixed results. The righty gave up five hits and three earned runs on sixty pitches, but did record five strikeouts without issuing a walk. The 24-year-old righty will rejoin the Padres after spending two-plus months on the disabled list with shoulder issues.

Tucson’s offense was paced by Blake Tekotte, finishing off a disappointing season with a 2-for-4 line, including his ninth homer of the year. Tekotte has hit only .249 on the campaign. Daniel Robertson extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single. The speedy outfielder was later thrown out at home trying to score the go-ahead run.

Ross Ohlendorf took the loss despite six strong innings in relief. The righty scattered five hits through regulation, but the game was still tied after nine. In the 10th, A.J. Pollock launched a leadoff homer to give Ohlendorf the loss.

San Antonio 4 Corpus Christi 3

Key Stats: LHP Erlin 5IP, 4H, 3ER, 9K, 1BB; 1B Freiman 3-4, HR (24); C Hagerty 1-2, HR (7)

Nate Freiman singled in Jonathan Galvez with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to cap another strong performance for the big first baseman. Freiman also launched a two-run homer in the contest and finished the night 3-for-4 to push his season average back up to .301. He will finish the season with career highs in batting average and home runs.

Starter Robbie Erlin was tagged with three earned runs in five-plus innings of work. The lefty had worked five stellar innings, in which he gave up just one run on two hits and recorded nine strikeouts, but when he came out for the sixth, he gave up a single and homer before exiting the game. In four starts since coming back from the disabled list, he gave up seven runs over 18.2 innings, but posted an impressive 27 strikeouts against four walks.

Lake Elsinore 1 Inland Empire 0

Key Stats: RHP Smith 5IP, 4H, 3K, 0BB; SS Carmon 1-4, RBI

Donavan Tate walked, advanced to second on a Jairo Gomez sacrifice, and then came around to score the game’s only run on a two-out single by 2012 draftee Stephen Carmon. The win gives the Storm a chance to reach the playoffs for the eighth straight year if they can win again on Sunday and a Rancho Cucamonga loss.

Starter Burch Smith finished his first professional season with five shutout innings. The righty struck out three and allowed four hits. On the year, Smith posted a 3.85 ERA with a strong 137-27 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 128.2 innings of work. He will potentially join a strong San Antonio rotation in 2013.

Fort Wayne was rained out. They will play a doubleheader in Bowling Green Monday.
