With September inching closer, which big-time prospects might get the call up to the majors? Here are 10 top candidates with bright futures ahead.

Expanded rosters in September can do a number of things for an MLB organization. More often than not, these call-ups are there to provide depth down the stretch and don't typically represent the best prospects in the system. But, every so often, a club will bring up one of their best. Here's a look at some of baseball's elite prospects that may get that call.

Jurickson Profar, SS, Texas Rangers

Many in the industry make the case that Profar is the best hitting prospect in the minor leagues right now. Although Profar is highly skilled in all aspects of the game, it's his bat that has the Rangers' front office so confident that he can eventually make a seamless transition to the big leagues. And, if industry buzz is any indication, his time may be coming this September.

Oswaldo Arcia, OF, Minnesota Twins

To say Arcia has a great minor league track record is an understatement. He has thoroughly dominated every level in which he's played over the last three seasons, showing off easy plus power from the left side of the plate. He's only in Double-A currently, but he's already on the Twins' 40-man roster, which would make his call-up much easier.

Dylan Bundy, RHP, Baltimore Orioles

A lot of people had their doubts about whether the Orioles bringing up Manny Machado was the right move. Thus far, that decision has worked out fairly well. The question that arises is will Machado's success lead Baltimore to continue to make bold moves with their elite prospects? If it does, perhaps we'll get a look at arguably baseball's best pitching prospect, Bundy, in September.

The flame throwing right-hander has passed his Double-A test so far, and you get the feeling that if he continues to dominate there, we will at least have a chance to see him in September. And, if Baltimore remains in the race, perhaps they will view Bundy as that spark down the stretch to put them over the top. In other words, if you're looking for an off-the-wall potential X-factor down the stretch, think of David Price in 2008 and keep Bundy in mind.

Billy Hamilton, SS, Cincinnati Reds

Who wouldn't want to catch a glimpse of a player who has swiped over 150 bases and counting in a single season? Curious fans around baseball may get their wish this September, as Hamilton is a very deserving candidate for a September call-up. The stolen bases may be the captivating story with him, but Hamilton also has an outstanding feel with the bat and brings a lot to the table defensively as well.

Wil Myers should have a full-time role in the Royals' lineup soon.

Wil Myers, OF, Kansas City Royals

Whether his arrival comes in September or not, it feels like a safe bet that we will see Wil Myers in Kansas City at some point soon. And, if you're looking for a player to have a phenom-like impact in 2013, Myers may very well be the guy to watch. His right-handed power is going to play at any level, and he has the type of approach that could allow him to catch fire almost immediately in the big leagues. That doesn't mean he won't eventually experience growing pains, but a taste of the big leagues this year should only help him in what figures to be a fascinating full rookie season in 2013.

Avisail Garcia, OF, Detroit Tigers

What Garcia brings to the table is an impressive combination of tools and performance. The Tigers would like to believe that 2012 has been the season that has given us a glimpse of the type of exciting player he could be in the big leagues. In spite of his hulking 240-pound frame, Garcia has better than average speed, as well as plus-plus arm strength. But, it's been the power and polish at the plate that have stood out this season. It remains to be seen if the Tigers would be willing to bring a player up from Double-A, but he'd be more than deserving if they do.

Jedd Gyorko, 3B, San Diego Padres

Some of the indications from the Padres have led many to believe a Gyorko call-up may be a long shot, but few players in the minor leagues are as deserving. Gyorko has outstanding bat speed, and over the last two seasons he has blossomed into a pure right-handed slugger. He has belted 29 home runs in 2012, and even if he's not in the big leagues this September he could be a huge part of San Diego's future at third base.

Zack Wheeler, RHP, New York Mets

The mere presence of Zack Wheeler in Queens during the month of September would be a positive sign for the direction of the New York Mets. The Mets acquired Wheeler last season, and so far he's been everything they could have possibly asked for as a pitching prospect. He has the premium stuff to be a front of the rotation arm, and so far he has passed all hurdles in his brief Triple-A stint. The Mets are a club that's out of the race that would be well served to showcase one of the bright spots of their future, and that bright spot could be Wheeler.

Grant Green, OF, Oakland Athletics

What position Green ends up playing is the lingering question, but everyone in Oakland and around the game seems pretty certain that he's going to swing the bat in the big leagues. There may not be a player on this list that is more prepared for the jump to The Show with the bat than Green, and obviously Oakland could use the offensive support. Whether it's in the outfield or the infield, it feels like a decent bet to make that Green's potent right-handed bat will find a home in Oakland this September.
