Padres' AFL October 14th

Posted Oct 15, 2011

It was no contest Friday night as the Javs slammed 4 HR, scored 14 runs, and just humiliated the Scorpions 14-5.

I thought the story was going to be Jaff Decker. Decker, who is one of the league leaders in BA, OBP, H, and RBI, hit his 1st HR of the season and went a stellar 2-4, HR, 2B, 2 RS, 3 RBI, BB. It was the 4th multi hit game for Jaff in 8 G, and continued his streak of reaching base safely in every game this season.

Anyway, Decker was going to be the main story until Jedd Gyorko took his final 2 swings of the game. Those 2 swings resulted in 2 HR (2,3) and 4 RBI. On the day Gyorko went 3-5, 2 HR (3), 4 RS, 4 RBI, BB, K. After going 0-5 yesterday, the 3 hit game puts Gyorko back on track as one of the team leaders.

With the win, the Javs are back at .500 at 5-5.
