"Everyone in the park knew that we were sending Olabisi," Plantier said on his substitution.
"He's had a great stolen base percentage for us all year and that is the mark of a special player; when they know you are going to steal a base and you still do it."
For the second game in a row DH Daniel Meeley came up, again in the midst of an 0-3 night and doubled into the gap on a two-strike count.
"I've really been working on separating at-bats, not carrying one over into another," said Meeley.
"I made good contact in the other at-bats and that is really what I was concentrating on."
3b Jake Blackwood, who came into the evening hitting below .200 then brought Meeley home on an RBI single to put the Storm on top. LF Danny Payne tacked on an extra run with an RBI triple to left to end the scoring.
Jason Ray came in for the save, his fourth of the year.
LHP Nick Schmidt, the Padres' number one pick in the 2007 draft pitched well in his third outing with the Storm.
"It was only his third outing for us, but that was his best performance for us," said Plantier.
"He kept the ball down, only allowed soft contact the other way; a good night."
Notes: CF Reymond Fuentes showed an impressive arm in the fifth gunning down speedy JetHawk centerfielder Andy Simunic as he tried to score from second.
