The San Diego Padres announced today they have placed infielder Orlando Hudson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring and selected infielder Logan Forsythe from Triple-A Tucson. In addition, the club has transferred left-handed pitcher Joe Thatcher from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.

Logan Forsythe, 24, has hit .291 (25-for-86) with five doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI, 20 runs scored and two stolen bases in 22 games played for the Triple-A Tucson Padres. The infielder’s first appearance will be his Major League debut. Selected by the Padres in the supplemental-round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft (46th overall), he has hit .279 (277-for-993) with 50 doubles, seven triples, 18 home runs, 114 RBI and 173 runs scored in 273 games played over four minor league seasons.

"He just comes to the ballpark ready to play," fellow prospect Nick Schmidt saids. "He's fearless in the box. He's definitely a good hitter."

"He grinds it out," prospect Jeremy Hefner said. "He can be down 0-2 or 1-2 and still gets a hit."
